Inflation has fallen - again. It’s now at 3.2%, the lowest it has been in over two and a half years.
On 17 April 2024, new figures showed the rate of inflation stood at 3.2 per cent, down from 3.4 per cent in February and down from its peak of 11.1 per cent in 2022.
- Since the beginning of 2023 the Conservative government has been working on five priorities, three of them economic, to halve inflation, grow the economy and reduce debt.
- The plan is working, and we are turning a corner. Inflation is falling faster than expected and has more than halved from 11.1 per cent at its peak to 3.2 per cent today, the economy has returned to growth and outperformed forecasts, mortgage rates are starting to come down and this month we have cut taxes for 29 million working people.
- The Conservative Government's plan is working, meaning we can afford to cut the double tax on work – putting £900 in the pockets of the average worker. Labour cannot say what they would do with the economy, because they do not have a plan, taking us back to square one.
